DUO is a collaborative project between composers and musicians experimenting with the duo format. Violinist Anna Jalving leads the project and for each edition she sets up a new duo constellation as a base for the experiments.

 

DUO II is for percussion, violin and two composers. From the history of the instruments and their practice the project creates a new unique language invented in form of both compositions and improvisations. During multiple workshops the composers and musicians have delved into the creative process and focussed on creating a new sound world, but also worked on the physical aspect of playing an instrument and the social particular engagement of playing in a duo. During the process the essence of what it means to create is in play and by the close collaboration, something rare and beautiful has emerged.
